Frequently asked

Booking and payment

How do I book?

Sign in, open an activity and choose your dates, the people coming, your hotel pickup and any extras - you see the total straight away. Next you check everything (change or cancel if needed), then confirm and pay. You can also message us on WhatsApp at +20 121 115 9536 or email info@aquaticdivers.net.

What is your cancellation policy?

The same for diving, courses and snorkeling: within 24 hours of booking you can cancel free of charge - everything back, even if you paid already. After that: more than 7 days before the activity - full refund; 7 days to 48 hours before - 50%; less than 48 hours before or no-show - no refund. If we cancel (weather, boat), you get everything back. You always choose: money back or credit for another day.

How can I pay?

At the dive center in cash or by card, or from your booking page once online payment is available (until then we contact you to arrange payment). Credit from an earlier cancellation is used first. Park fees (Hamata 5 €, Sataya 20 € per person) are paid on board to our guides.

Do you offer a discount for returning guests?

Yes - returning divers and friends of the company get 15% off the Dive package, trips and courses (not on fees, certification fees, equipment rental or other extras). Just tell us when you book.

Is the hotel transfer included?

Yes. We pick you up for free from all hotels between Port Ghalib and Hamata. Choose your hotel when you book - you see your pickup time - and add your room number.

Diving

Do I need to be certified to dive?

For the Dive package, boat diving and the Sataya overnight diving trip: yes - Scuba Diver or higher. Never dived before? Try Scuba lets complete beginners dive with an instructor, and our courses go from Scuba Diver to Divemaster.

Which certifications do you accept?

All recognised organisations - for example PADI, SSI, CMAS, NAUI, SDI / TDI, BSAC, RAID and IANTD. When you book we ask for your level, organisation, certification number and logged dives; please bring your card and logbook.

How much does a dive cost?

With the Dive package: 35 € per dive; from 7 dives every dive costs 33 €, from 11 dives 31 €, from 21 dives 28 € - per diver. A 12 l tank, weights and belt are included; a permission fee of 8 € per diving day is added.

Can I dive without a guide?

Egyptian rules (CDWS): divers with fewer than 25 logged dives, or with a Scuba Diver certification, must dive with a Divemaster or instructor. Experienced divers - ask us about diving with your buddy. A private guide or instructor can be added when you book.

Can I dive at Elphinstone?

Elphinstone is famous for sharks, with strong currents and deep walls. First do at least one welcome dive with us. You need Advanced Open Water and 30 logged dives, or you dive it with one of our instructors. A surcharge of 27 € applies.

What should I bring?

Your passport (the authorities need passenger and diver lists), certification card and logbook, the filled-in forms (check-in, responsibility and medical - see Forms), swimwear, a towel and sun protection.

Do I need a medical certificate?

Every diver fills in our medical questionnaire (Forms page). If you answer "yes" to any question, please bring a doctor's confirmation that you are fit to dive.

Do dives take place in any weather?

Safety comes first: with strong wind or high waves we change the dive site or cancel the trip. If we cancel, you get everything back - or keep it as credit for another day.

Equipment and rental

Can I rent equipment?

Yes, per day: complete set 37 €; BCD, regulator, wetsuit or dive computer 9 € each; mask, snorkel and fins 14 €; torch 11 €; SMB 6 €; underwater camera 42 €. Add them when you book - they are charged for every diving day. A 12 l tank and weights are always included; a 15 l tank is 4 € per dive.

Do I need a dive computer and an SMB?

We recommend that every diver dives with their own computer and carries a surface marker buoy (SMB). If you have none, rent them from us (9 € and 6 € a day).

Can I wear diving gloves?

Gloves for warmth are not forbidden, but touching corals or any marine life is strictly forbidden in the Red Sea - so we do not recommend gloves. If you need them for a medical reason, please bring a medical certificate.

Can I carry a diving knife?

Yes, a knife of up to 10 cm, for emergencies only. A line cutter or shears are a better choice.

At the dive center

Yes - diving equipment (masks, fins, jackets, suits, regulators and more) can be bought or rented at the dive center.

Where is the nearest decompression chamber?

We work with the Baromedical hyperbaric chamber in Marsa Shagra, which offers specialist medical care.

Do I need dive insurance?

For a donation of 7 € to the Baromedical chamber in Marsa Shagra, your first chamber treatment is free if you need it and have no insurance of your own. The donation is valid for three weeks, also when you dive with other centers. It is not insurance - it supports the chamber, which runs on donations - and it does not cover other injuries (for example cuts or ear infections). We recommend international health insurance.
