Safaga
Safaga lies on the Red Sea coast north of Marsa Alam. Its offshore reefs are known for steep walls, soft corals and calm sandy lagoons - and for one of the Red Sea’s best-known wrecks.
Dive sites you can visit
A large offshore reef with walls covered in soft corals and sea fans; reef fish everywhere, often turtles.
A long, narrow reef with steep walls on both sides, sea fans and black coral - for experienced divers, as there can be current.
Coral pinnacles on a sandy bottom in shallow, calm water - easy for all levels and lovely for snorkelers too.
The reefs of Soma Bay: coral gardens and walls close to the coast, good for relaxed boat dives.
A passenger ferry that sank in 1991 with great loss of life - a moving wreck dive, made with respect, for experienced divers.
